GHAZIABAD: An electrical engineer , his father and two brothers have been booked for allegedly his murdering his wife of seven months over more dowry.The 23-year-old woman, Shalini Bhardwaj , was working as an HR executive in a private firm in Sahibabad. Shalini’s husband, her father-in-law and two brothers-in-law have been named in the FIR that has been registered under Sections 498A, 304B of the IPC and under Sections 3 and 4 of the Dowry Prohibition Act.The woman’s father, Satendra Sharma, a property dealer and resident of Lajpat Nagar in Sahibabad, said: “I had spent some Rs 22 lakh in her wedding. A huge amount of cash and jewellery was given to the couple as gift. However, her husband was not satisfied with it and used to fight with my daughter all the time for more gifts. Recently, he had asked for money to buy a Bullet motorcycle. But I refused because I had financial constraints.”Shalini had married the electrical engineer on December 1, 2017, and was living with his family in Dundahera in Vijay Nagar. She was the eldest among Sharma’s six children.Sharma said that on Sunday night, he got a call from his daughter’s in-laws who told him that Shalini had been admitted to a private hospital after she complained of severe stomach pain. “By the time we reached the hospital, Shalini was dead. I lodged a police complaint after I saw some dark marks on my daughter’s neck,” he said.Police said they would wait for autopsy report before taking any action against the accused. SHO (Vijay Nagar) Rameshwar Kumar said: “The body has been sent for postmortem. Further action will be taken on the basis of report.”
