‘Knock Out’ campaign nabs 33 in 3 days

GHAZIABAD: Thirty-three wanted criminals, involved in heinous crimes, have been arrested in a three-day special operation — Knock Out . The police had slapped the Gangster Act in 2017 for his involvement in several cases of loot, cheating and criminal conspiracy. However, he was subsequently caught and booked for rioting, attempt to murder and under the Arms Act and was produced in court. As many as 19 persons wanted under the Gangsters Act, eight for loot, three involved in murder cases, two in rape cases and one booked for a dowry death were arrested in the past three days. As many as 45 police teams were formed across the district to nab these criminals.SSP Vaibhav Krishna said, “The operation has yielded positive results.

In addition, five criminals have surrendered in court during this period. Two of the accused had a reward of Rs 50,000 and Rs 25,000 on their arrest.The operation was conducted between July 6 and July 8 and a list of 160 wanted criminals, involved in murder, loot, dacoity, dowry deaths and the Gangsters Act, was prepared. As many as 45 police teams were formed across the district to nab these criminals.SSP Vaibhav Krishna said, “The operation has yielded positive results. As many as 19 persons wanted under the Gangsters Act, eight for loot, three involved in murder cases, two in rape cases and one booked for a dowry death were arrested in the past three days. Under police pressure, five accused wanted in serious crimes surrendered in the court.”The SSP added police teams conducted raids in adjoining districts and even went to Punjab in one case to nab the culprits.Police said Faisal Ali, a resident of Welcome area in Delhi, carried a reward of Rs 50,000 in a 2014 case and has been absconding for the past four years. He was caught by Loni police on Monday from Pushta area after a tip-off.“Ali had created a communal tension in 2013 in Loni after throwing body parts of cows at public places in the area. He along with other accomplices had later fired on a police team which had gone to arrest him. However, he was subsequently caught and booked for rioting, attempt to murder and under the Arms Act and was produced in court. A few months later he was granted bail. The Gangsters Act was slapped on him in 2014 and since then he has been absconding,” said Umesh Kumar Pandey, SHO, Loni police station.The accused carrying the reward of Rs 25,000 has been identified as Pankaj Kumar, a resident of Mahipalpur in Delhi. He is said to be involved in the murder of one Arshi Malik, a cloth merchant who used to live in ATS Advantage Society in Indirapuram in March 2016. The merchant was shot by five persons inside the premises of the society. The police had slapped the Gangster Act in 2017 for his involvement in several cases of loot, cheating and criminal conspiracy.
