Six-year-old boy’s body pulled out, toll rises to 2 in Ghaziabad building collapse

GHAZIABAD: The death toll in the building collapse in Ghaziabad rose to two on Monday with rescue teams pulling out the body of a six-year-old boy from the debris late at night. She was traced to Ganesh Hospital where she had been rushed by some local people after taking her out from the debris. Police have booked the accused for culpable homicide under Section 304 of IPC apart from other offences. “Two others, Prasanjeet Gautam and Manish Goyal, are also under police radar for their suspected involvement in construction activity,” SSP Vaibhav Krishna said. The three patients who had been referred to GTB Hospital in Delhi are stable.

GHAZIABAD: The death toll in the building collapse in Ghaziabad rose to two on Monday with rescue teams pulling out the body of a six-year-old boy from the debris late at night. The boy has been identified as Sagar, son of one of the labourers who had been working at the construction site.The rescue operation was later called off after the officials and police managed to trace a 55-year-old woman, Vidya, who was missing. She was traced to Ganesh Hospital where she had been rushed by some local people after taking her out from the debris. However, her relatives were not aware of it.On Monday, earth movers were also deployed to clear the rubble of the five-storey under-construction building which collapsed in Radhey Krishna Colony in Akash Nagar, barely 100 metres off Dasna flyover.“Most of the injured and dead were found trapped between the ground and first floors of the crumbled structure. The labourers were living in the shanties at the construction site but had shifted to the building due to the rain on Sunday,” said commandant, NDRF, PK Srivastava.Apart from the two casualties, eight persons were injured in the building collapse.“The six-year-old boy who had been rushed to the hospital late on Sunday night was brought dead. The three patients who had been referred to GTB Hospital in Delhi are stable. One worker, Munnalal, who had also been taken out on Sunday night was discharged after treatment. All injured patients are stable,” said CMO of Sanjay Nagar combined district hospital Dr NK Gupta.Late on Sunday night, police registered an FIR against four accused, including one unidentified person, at Masuri police station. The FIR was registered on the basis of a complaint lodged by GDA through one of its junior engineers, Ajit Kumar.The accused in the FIR include two partners, Krishanpal Tomar and Mukesh Singh, who were constructing the building and the purported owner of the plot who has been identified as Dinesh Kumar. Police have booked the accused for culpable homicide under Section 304 of IPC apart from other offences. “Two others, Prasanjeet Gautam and Manish Goyal, are also under police radar for their suspected involvement in construction activity,” SSP Vaibhav Krishna said.
