96k private vehicles told to renew registrations

The notice for renewal has been issued to all vehicle owners whose registrations have crossed the 15-year time limit. GHAZIABAD: The fate of nearly 96,000 private vehicles in Ghaziabad that are over 15 years old hangs in balance after the transport department directed their owners on Thursday to renew the vehicles’ registrations in the next 60 days.“Registration certificates are provided to private vehicles, including two-wheelers and four-wheelers, for a maximum period of 15 years. The owner can ply the vehicle in other states as well. For vehicles above 15 years that are no longer fit to ply on roads, owners have been directed to cancel their registrations,” additional RTO Biswajit Singh told TOI.“Vehicles that are 15 years old or more will automatically be denied renewal of registration in Ghaziabad. Registration will be provided only if the owner seeks a no-objection certificate to ply it in districts of UP that do not fall within the NCR.
