A complete overhaul of the road will, however, be undertaken once the pipeline is laid fully. The sewage collected through these pipelines will be emptied near a manhole adjacent to the CISF Road. Nearly 1.4 km of pipelines was laid by the GDA at a cost of Rs 2.1 crore under the stretch from DPS-Indirapuram to Niho Scottish Garden housing society. Officials had promised to send road rollers, but later said they were not available. A private consultant has been appointed to prepare a project report on how sewage disposal and water supply can be improved in Indirapuram,” GDA executive engineer Manvendra Singh said.

GHAZIABAD: Residents of Indirapuram have urged the Ghaziabad Development Authority GDA ) to remove mounds of earth that have been left behind on both sides of a stretch of road in Ahimsa Khand 2 after sewer lines were laid under it in July-August.The residents have written to the GDA, saying the mounds of earth not only caused traffic snarls but also made the area slushy after rains. Nearly 1.4 km of pipelines was laid by the GDA at a cost of Rs 2.1 crore under the stretch from DPS-Indirapuram to Niho Scottish Garden housing society. The cost included repairing the road after laying the trunk sewer lines. The work was undertaken following a petition in the National Green Tribunal (NGT) by the Federation of Apartment Owners’ Association, alleging that overflowing sewage was causing pollution in Indirapuram. The stretch of the road was already prone to traffic jams because of a school, a hospital and as many as 22 highrises along it, but the situation worsened after the pipeline work.At present, vehicles are being forced to move on single carriageways in either directions in front of Princess’ Park and Niho Scottish Garden housing societies.“The workers have not laid the portions properly that were dug while laying the pipes, but only filled them as a temporary measure. Officials had promised to send road rollers, but later said they were not available. Peak-hour traffic jams have doubled with the accumulated earth blocking free flow of vehicles,” said Alok Kumar, the federation president. The GDA said work on laying the sewer lines is yet to be completed. The pipes are supposed to be laid to a distance ahead of the Niho Scottish Garden housing society and inside a lane opposite DPS-Indirapuram.“In addition, the main sewer line is yet to be connected to housing societies through pipelines. The sewage collected through these pipelines will be emptied near a manhole adjacent to the CISF Road. Earth has already been removed from certain stretches. A complete overhaul of the road will, however, be undertaken once the pipeline is laid fully. A private consultant has been appointed to prepare a project report on how sewage disposal and water supply can be improved in Indirapuram,” GDA executive engineer Manvendra Singh said.
