GHAZIABAD: Two days after conducting a preliminary trial on the 9.41 km Dilshad Garden-New Bus Stand metro corridor, the DMRC on Monday started full signalling trials on the route. District magistrate and vice-chairperson of GDA, Ritu Maheshwari, attended the first trial run, which will continue in the next fifteen days.“All eight stations are connected to auto signal and during trials we ensure whether it’s working fine,” said a DMRC official. The eight stations on the corridor are Shaheed Nagar, Raj Bagh, Rajendra Nagar, Shyam Park, Mohan Nagar, Arthala, River Hindon and New Bus Stand.After conducting the trial runs for nearly two months, DMRC will require clearance from commissioner of metro safety and only after that the project will be commissioned. It is expected that the corridor will be commissioned by December.On Saturday, during preliminary trials, the DMRC ran six coaches on the said corridor to check whether there is any infringement on the track.In a related development, the state government has directed the GDA to pay up GMC’s share of Rs 246 crore. “A meeting was convened by chief minister about a fortnight ago over the funding issue of Dilshad Garden-New Bus Stand metro project in which we have been asked to pay up GMC’s share of Rs 246 crore,” said Ritu Maheshwari. “But since there is an in-principle agreement that the project cost will be calculated as per initial DPR of Rs 1,770 crore and Centre’s share of Rs 402 crore is expected soon, we don’t think GDA will have to pay up GMC’s share,” said Maheshwari.
