GHAZIABAD: Tension prevailed in Muradnagar’s Morta village on Sunday night after members of two communities clashed over a construction at a religious structure.Police intervened and stopped the work. The construction was being carried out in violation of an Allahabad high court order. Three persons were arrested on Monday morning on charges of trespassing and creating unrest in the area. A police force was also deployed to prevent any law and order problem.The SHO of Muradnagar police station, Lakshendra Singh, said: “According to the high court order, no new construction can be done at the site. However, members of one community were building pillars for putting up a tin shed at the spot. It led to an argument between members of the two communities. As soon as information reached us, a police force rushed to the spot and resolved the issue.”Trouble started when a villager who had objected to the construction was allegedly beaten up by those working on the pillars. An argument between villagers involving members of both communities soon snowballed into a clash. A police team reached the spot and pacified the villagers. A comprise was reached at in the presence of senior police officers and local MLA Ajeet Pal Tyagi.SSP Vaibhav Krishna said his force would keep watch on the area. “Police had reached the disputed site on time and the religious structure was restored to its earlier status. There is no law and order problem now. Anyone who tries to spread rumours will not be spared.”
