“Hence, we have decided to do away with the Vasundhara Sector 14 station station on the Vaishali to Mohan Nagar line. “Since we already have Prahlad Garhi in Vasundhara, it won’t defeat the purpose of connecting the township with the metro line,” said Maheshwari. Maheshwari said she did not think dropping one station would make a difference as Vasundhara would be well connected. We have been deliberating on ways to bring down the cost of the project,” said Ritu Maheshwari, vice-chairperson of the GDA and also the district magistrate. The cost if this section has been pegged at Rs 1,785 crore,” she added. In the DPR submitted in March, the four stations planned on the route were Prahlad Garhi, Vasundhara Sector 14, Sahibabad and Mohan Nagar.

GHAZIABAD: The Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA) has scrapped a metro station proposed in Vasundhara Sector 14 to save on the cost of the Vaishali-Mohan Nagar corridor it has asked Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) to build. The GDA has asked DMRC to revise its detailed project report (DPR) for this proposed metro line and bring down the number of proposed stations from four to three. GDA hopes to save at least Rs 100 crore this way.“The metro extension project includes two lines — Vaishali to Mohan Nagar (5km) and Noida Sector 62 to Sahibabad (5.1km) line — and is facing a funds crunch as the estimated cost is about Rs 3,711 crore. We have been deliberating on ways to bring down the cost of the project,” said Ritu Maheshwari, vice-chairperson of the GDA and also the district magistrate. “Hence, we have decided to do away with the Vasundhara Sector 14 station station on the Vaishali to Mohan Nagar line.
