2 guards, 3 others held for robbery in Ghaziabad

GHAZIABAD: Two men from Nepal were arrested on Sunday for allegedly robbing a locked house in Shalimar Garden.The arrested persons, Gajendra Bahadur and Puran, who are in their late 20s, used to work as security guards in the colony. They originally belong to Bajura district of Nepal and have been living in India for the past several years. Though the number on the two-wheeler was found to be fake,” said the SP (city). The duo fled with Rs 8,000 cash, a wrist watch and expensive jewellery. Police have recovered around 70% of the stolen items.Police have also arrested three men from Kavi Nagar who have been involved in eight cases of mobile and chain snatching.

While Bahadur was a resident of Sector 1 in Vasundhara, Puran had been living in Shalimar Garden.“The duo used to work in a gang along with three other accomplices who are yet to be arrested. They are involved in several similar robberies in the past. They were familiar with the layout of the house which they robbed and also knew the time-period for which the family went out leaving the house locked,” said SP (city) Shlok Kumar.The robbery had taken place around a week ago when the family went out for a short while. The duo fled with Rs 8,000 cash, a wrist watch and expensive jewellery. Police have recovered around 70% of the stolen items.Police have also arrested three men from Kavi Nagar who have been involved in eight cases of mobile and chain snatching. The three have been identified as Furqaan, Badal and Ramesh, are in their mid-20s.“In one of the loot cases, the victim had noted the last four digits of a two-wheeler which they robbed later. We spotted the vehicle during a routine check on September 8. Though the number on the two-wheeler was found to be fake,” said the SP (city).
