When Shivam got down from the vehicle, these men were joined by four others who thrashed him. The men drove away with his SUV and abandoned it on the road around a kilometre ahead. Shivam told police that he found the cash missing from the dashboard when he found the SUV.“There were several inconsistencies in what Shivam said and he spilled the beans on sustained questioning. Shivam had called a friend, Mohit, to Banthala where he had handed him over the cash asking him to deliver it to another friend, Rahul. Shivam had later collected the money from Rahul with which he wanted to start a gym. His father had refused to give him money for starting business. However, his friends did not have any role in the conspiracy” said SSP Vaibhav Krishna.
