GHAZIABAD: The Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA) has finally decided to give precedence to Noida electronic city to Sahibabad metro extension line over Vaishali to Mohan Nagar metro line under metro phase 3 project. “Out of five stations proposed along the line three comes in Indirapuram which is administered by GDA and hence it will have to bear the maximum cost again Vasundhara comes under Housing Board which will have one metro station and hence fund calculated accordingly and same goes with UPSIDC and GMC,” said Singh. The GDA had earlier computed fund sharing hoping that DMRC will also contribute in terms of rolling stock but had to re-work it after DMRC rejected this. “The contention put forth by DMRC was that since none of the stations is in Delhi so DMRC will not contribute in terms of rolling stock as a result of this we had to proportionately distribute on all stakeholders,” said Singh. The 5.11Km Noida electronic city to Sahibabad metro extension line will have five stations namely Vaibhav Khand, Indirapuram, Shakti Khand, Vasundhara sector 5 and Sahibabad and as per Detailed Project Report (DPR) submitted by DMRC, the estimated cost of the project was pegged at Rs 1886 crore. The GDA has also worked out fund sharing pattern for the said metro line and the development agency within one week will send the proposal to UP Government for its vetting. As per GDA official, the decision to take up 5.11 Km Noida electronic city to Sahibabad metro extension line project came up after deliberations with Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) which suggested that if this line is taken up it will give Ghaziabad metro connectivity to Noida, Delhi and also Faridabad which the development agency approved.“In regards to funding sharing pattern for Rs 1886 crore Noida electronic city to Sahibabad metro extension line centre, UP Government along with agencies like GDA, Ghaziabad Municipal Corporation (GMC), UP Housing Board, Uttar Pradesh State Industrial Development Corporation (UPSIDC) will jointly share the cost ” said VN Singh, chief engineer, GDA.The funding modalities put forth by GDA are the centre and UP government will contribute Rs 334.6 crore each, the GDA Rs 571.90 cr, UP Housing Board Rs 365.04 crore, GMC Rs Rs 206.86 crore and UPSIDC Rs 73.01 crore “The funding pattern will be very soon be sent to the UP government for final approval,” said Singh. When asked on what criteria the funding pattern has been decided Singh said it has been done on the basis of which areas benefit most from the corridor.
