According to the detailed project report submitted by DMRC, the estimated cost of the project has been pegged at Rs 1,886 crore. The Centre, too, is yet to give its share of funds. At the meeting on Saturday, the GDA laid down the share of funds for the Electronic City-Sahibabad metro route. Again, Vasundhara comes under the Housing Board, which will have one metro station. The fund sharing has been calculated accordingly and the same goes with UPSIDC and GMC,” said Singh. The GDA has had to revise the fund sharing pattern for this metro route after DMRC said it would not contribute. Therefore, the GDA will have to bear the maximum cost.

Ghaziabad: The Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA) has decided to start work on the Noida Electronic City-Sahibabad metro route and put the Vaishali-Mohan Nagar line on hold for the time being. The development agency, which has worked out a revised fund sharing pattern after the DMRC decided against investing, has been told to submit a proposal to the UP government within a week.Sources present in the meeting, where the decision was taken, said the 5.11km Electronic City-Sahibabad line was given precedence after representatives from DMRC suggested that the route, once complete, would provide seamless connectivity to Noida, Ghaziabad and Faridabad. The sources also said the two routes would require more than Rs 4,000 crore to implement and taking up both of them simultaneously “would not be feasible”.The phase 2 of Ghaziabad metro — Dilshad Garden to New Bus Stand — has already been hit by funds crunch, with the municipal corporation pulling out saying it can’t afford to bear its share. The Centre, too, is yet to give its share of funds. At the meeting on Saturday, the GDA laid down the share of funds for the Electronic City-Sahibabad metro route. “With regard to the fund sharing pattern for the Rs 1,886 crore extension line, the Centre, UP government and agencies such as GDA, Ghaziabad Municipal Corporation, Housing Board and Uttar Pradesh State Industrial Development Corporation (UPSIDC) will share the cost,” said VN Singh, chief engineer, GDA.According to the modalities put forth by the GDA at the meeting, the Centre and UP government will contribute Rs 334.6 crore each, the GDA Rs 572 crore, Housing Board Rs 365 crore, GMC Rs 207 crore and UPSIDC Rs 73 crore.“The funding pattern will very soon be sent to the UP government for its approval,” said Singh.Asked how the funding pattern had been decided, Singh said the agency befitting most from the corridor would have to cough up the highest amount.“Of the six stations proposed between Electronic City and Sahibabad, three comes in Indirapuram, which is administered by the GDA. Therefore, the GDA will have to bear the maximum cost. The GDA had earlier hoped the DMRC would contribute in terms of rolling stock.“The reason cited by DMRC is that since none of stations is in Delhi, it will not contribute in terms of rolling stock. As a result of this, we have had to proportionately distribute the amount among all stakeholders,” Singh said. The 5.11km Electronic City-Sahibabad extension line will have five stations —Vaibhav Khand, Indirapuram, Shakti Khand, Vasundhara Sector 5 and Sahibabad. According to the detailed project report submitted by DMRC, the estimated cost of the project has been pegged at Rs 1,886 crore.
