“The integration plan was accounted for in the planning stage itself. The NHAI, on its part, said it will construct 13 underpasses to link Ghaziabad and Noida by skirting the DME. Work on it is going on and the GDA has expressed desire that we share the plan. “We have hired CRRI to make a detailed traffic management plan for the city and we expect DME to be ready by May next year. Since it is happening much in advance, it will give us leeway to accommodate changes that the GDA might come up with,” said RP Singh, project director.Singh said work is underway to also connect the Hindon Elevated Road with DME through a 750-metre loop.

GHAZIABAD: The Ghaziabad Development Authority has asked the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) to share its design related to the integration of the Delhi-Meerut Expressway (NH-24) with the city’s arterial roads. The GDA will then seek the Central Road Research Institute’s (CRRI) view on the integration design to ensure a “seamless integration” when the DME opens to public in May next year. “We have hired CRRI to make a detailed traffic management plan for the city and we expect DME to be ready by May next year. We want to ensure that there is no problem whatsoever with the NHAI’s integration plan when the city’s arterial roads is connected to DME,” said VN Singh, chief engineer in the GDA.All along the 19km stretch from UP Gate to Dasna, there are many points where the city’s roads connects with expressway, such as UP Gate, Shani Mandir, Kala Patthar Road, CISF Road in Indirapuram and Link Road in Vijay Nagar. The NHAI, on its part, said it will construct 13 underpasses to link Ghaziabad and Noida by skirting the DME. “The integration plan was accounted for in the planning stage itself. Work on it is going on and the GDA has expressed desire that we share the plan. We will be doing that soon. Since it is happening much in advance, it will give us leeway to accommodate changes that the GDA might come up with,” said RP Singh, project director.Singh said work is underway to also connect the Hindon Elevated Road with DME through a 750-metre loop. “According to a plan to give uninhibited access to traffic coming from the elevated road to DME, we are constructing a 750m loop that will start from the down ramp of the elevated road and will ascend up to 7.5 metres over the DME before taking a curve and joining the DME near Ghazipur meat market,” said Singh.
