GDA hires pvt firm to deal with sewer woes in Indirapuram

The firm is expected to provide a detailed project report (DPR) on augmenting sewer and water infrastructure in Indirapuram “We have roped in a Delhi-based consultancy firm to prepare the DPR for augmenting sewer and water network in the township. “This has been necessitated following persistent sewer overflow and complaints of water shortage in the township. “The GDA allowed uncontrolled growth of the township, which is the prime reason for the problems we face these days,” said Alok Kumar.

It will be submitted by December,” said Manvendra Singh, executive engineer, GDA. “This has been necessitated following persistent sewer overflow and complaints of water shortage in the township. After receiving the report, we intend to implement suggestions made by the private firm,” added Singh. He also said the GDA had started laying water pipelines in the areaThe Indirapuram township, which was conceived two and a half decades ago, is spread across 1289.24 acres. According to the 2011 census, the population of the township is close to 1.5 lakh and in seven years, it is estimated to have crossed 2 lakh.Alok Kumar, president of the Federation of Apartment Owners’ Association, said the township had been designed to cater to a population that the township had almost two decades ago. “The GDA allowed uncontrolled growth of the township, which is the prime reason for the problems we face these days,” said Alok Kumar. “Timely intervention from the GDA would have salvaged the situation but it allowed the situation to go out of hand on some pretext or the other. Things have come to such a pass that we have to move the NGT and Allahabad high court to goad it to act,” added Kumar.
