GHAZIABAD: A 65-year-old retired deputy superintendent of police has alleged that the police at Masuri police station did not register an FIR related to a theft at his house and he had to approach the SP to get an inquiry initiated into the complaint.Narendra Kumar Agarwal, who retired from the UP Police in 2014, had complained that a domestic help hired at his home in Masuri had escaped with a gold bangle which was worth Rs 1 lakh and a few clothes.“The crime took place on the morning of October 11. The maid, whom we had hired in August this year, had left the house hurriedly saying some urgent work had cropped up. Later, we found that a gold bangle and some clothes are missing,” said Agarwal.The retired officer lives with his wife and a son in Ansal Garden Enclave on Hapur road in Masuri. “Between October 11 and 15, I tried to lodge the FIR online. But when I failed to get it done despite numerous attempts, I went to the Masuri police station on Monday morning. The cops there noted down the complaint and said the matter would be investigated. But they did not register an FIR,” Agarwal said.Agarwal, who is also a former joint secretary of the Provincial Police Service Association in NCR, rued: “When this can happen to a retired police officer, one can fathom the difficulty faced by the common man in lodging an FIR.”SP (rural) AK Maurya said the SHO of Masuri police station had been directed to lodge an FIR immediately.
