GHAZIABAD: The pradhan of Dujana village in Gautam Budh Nagar district was arrested on Friday night for his alleged role in seeking Rs 2 crore extortion from a restaurant owner in Ghaziabad. The pradhan is accused of arranging the shooters and providing the mobile phone numbers of the owners of Madan Sweets to gangster Billu Dujana, who is currently lodged in a jail in Delhi. Billu Dujana had allegedly revealed the name of pradhan Ranpal Nagar while in custody.On August 6, an extortion call of Rs 2 crore was made to Sandeep Yadav, owner of Madan Sweets and Restaurant located on Rakesh Marg in Nehru Nagar, in the name of Billu Dujana. The caller had threatened of dire consequences if Yadav did not pay up Rs 2 crore to Billu Dujana. Yadav’s father Brahampal too had received a call from the same caller just five minutes later and a similar demand was put forward.An FIR was subsequently registered against unknown persons under Section 386 and 504 of IPC at Sihani Gate police station. The father-son duo had also met SSP Vaibhav Krishna and sought police protection.The police got partial success in the case after two gang members – Guleshar and Ashu – were arrested. However, Billu Dujana had hit back and two bike-borne assailants had fired in the air in front of the restaurant on September 24.SHO, Sihani Gate, Sanjay Pandey said, “Through our surveillance system and monitoring of the mobile numbers used in the crime we came to know that Billu Dujana, who is currently lodged in Mandoli jail in Delhi, was in constant touch with his aides. Based on this information, he was taken in custody and during questioning, he told us about the involvement of Nagar in operating his gang.” Nagar was supposed to get a hefty cut from Rs 2 crore which was being sought from the restaurant owners.
