GHAZIABAD: A business relationship manager of a Lucknow-based finance company has been booked for allegedly cheating 51 people of investments worth Rs 6 lakh. The regional manager of Sonata Finance on Monday filed a complaint at Kavi Nagar police station for allegedly not depositing the interests paid by customers to the company’s accounts. The accused Mangal Singh, who has been working with the company since July 2016, was managing accounts of 373 clients.Kamlesh Yadav, regional manager of the company in Ghaziabad, said: “On October 22, we visited one of the customers being handled by Singh. She had taken a loan of around Rs 32,000. She said she had given Rs 12,703 to Singh, but it was found that the money was not deposited with the company’s Ghaziabad branch even after 45 days.”Singh had allegedly used the money for personal work. The official said contrary to the company’s policy, Singh collected cash from clients at their homes with the promise of facilitating bigger loans. Following the allegations, a committee was formed by the company and all 373 accounts under Singh’s supervision were inspected. Rojant Tyagi, SHO said teams had been formed to nab the accused, who is on the run.
