Ghaziabad: An eight-year-old girl was allegedly raped by her stepfather at home on Friday night while her mother and elder brother slept in another room.Police said the accused, a 35-year-old daily wager, also threatened the girl against saying anything to her mother, a sanitation worker at a hospital. The girl, however, narrated the incident to her mother in the morning on Saturday. The accused had married the girl’s mother almost a year ago.The woman took the girl to Vijay Nagar police station to lodge a complaint, but was reportedly asked to go back home with an assurance that a PCR van would soon reach there and register the case.However, when the vehicle did not come for around two hours, the woman met local councillor Haji Asif and sought his help in getting an FIR registered in the case.The accused got a whiff of the impending action against him, fled home and switched off his mobile phone. The girl’s stepfather hails from Madhya Pradesh’s Damoh district Asif said he had accompanied the woman and her daughter to the police station to file the complaint.The councillor alleged that even as the complaint was being written down, an argument broke out between him and a sub-inspector. Asif claimed the sub-inspector allegedly hit him in the police station and pointed his service revolver at him.The councillor has lodged a separate complaint in this regard.Rameshwar Kumar, the SHO of Vijay Nagar police station, said: “An FIR under Section 376 of the IPC ( rape ) and under provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act has been registered. A medical test has also been done on the girl. The report is awaited.”Asked about the councillor’s allegation that he was hit inside the police station, Kumar said: “An inquiry is being done. The sub-inspector has also alleged misbehaviour by the councillor.”
