GHAZIABAD: The Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA) has asked a private consultant to prepare a feasibility report for connecting the Hindon Elevated Road with the DND flyway in Noida. The private agency had conducted a survey and come up with three proposals to connect the two points. The GDA said the projectcould take off immediately if the consultant came up with the most cost-effective route and the development agency could source funds for it. “This project is among the top priorities of GDA. It is expected to cost anywhere between Rs 800 crore and Rs 900 crore. However, scarcity of funds is an issue. We have already used a certain portion of our funds for the Madhuban-Bapudham housing scheme. Some funds will also be required for construction of the third phase of the metro in Ghaziabad,” GDA vice-chairperson Kanchan Verma said. The GDA had conceived the extension project soon after the Hindon Elevated Road, which connects UP Gate in Delhi with Raj Nagar Extension in Ghaziabad, was inaugurated earlier this year. A private consultant had also been appointed for preparing a feasibility report for the project. The three route maps suggested by the consultant have lengths of 6.9km, 7.9km and 8.2km, respectively. The first proposed route, having a length of 6.9 km, goes parallel along the Hindon Canal and meets the DND flyover after passing through New Ashok Nagar crossing. The second proposed route, having a length of 7.9km, passes through Shivaji Marg in Noida and extends up to Rajnidgandha underpass. The third proposed route, which is the longest with a length of 8.2km, passes through Udyog Marg in Noida to meet the DND flyway via Rajnigandha underpass.“Factors that would determine the final route map will include number of encumbrances in land required for the project and utility of the route for vehicle owners not only in Ghaziabad but also in Delhi and Noida. It will also be considered as to which route is expected to be utilised by the most number of vehicles,” GDA chief engineer VN Singh said.
