The annual revenue target set by the state government for the stamps and registration department through registries is Rs 1,626 crore. “All over Ghaziabad, the department on an average executes anything between 400 and 500 registries daily. GHAZIABAD: Even as registry of properties in unauthorized colonies in Ghaziabad has been put on hold following the district magistrate’s order, the stamps and registration department is faced with a problem — the list of 321 illegal settlements provided by Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA) has just the names of owners of properties, and ambiguous mention of places that are different from revenue records. Meanwhile, the department is suffering a loss of Rs 1 crore daily due to the move.“The list of 321 unauthorized colonies provided to the stamps and registration department by GDA has ambiguous mention of places which are different from those mentioned in revenue records which we use while deciding circle rate or executing registries,” Mewa Lal Patel, assistant IG (stamps), told TOI on Wednesday.“So we have sought more details from the GDA like plot number so that the exact coordinates of the unauthorized colonies could be ascertained,” he added.GDA vice-chairperson Kanchan Verma, meanwhile, said that the development agency has started updating the list as sought by the stamps and registration department.“Since the list is vast and unauthorized colonies are spread over all the eight zones marked by GDA, it will take time to update it as per the needs of the department. To begin with, we will first send the updated list of zone 3 which includes areas such as Aakash Nagar and Balaji Enclave,” added Verma.Officials said the stamps and registration department is also incurring a revenue loss to the tune of about Rs 1 crore a day even as the legality of the DM’s order is debated. “All over Ghaziabad, the department on an average executes anything between 400 and 500 registries daily.
