Flats of coal ministry official, bank executive burgled in Ghaziabad

GHAZIABAD: Two flats, belonging to an undersecretary in the Union coal ministry and a senior bank official, were burgled in a highrise apartment in Raj Nagar Extension on Thursday afternoon. The burglars escaped with cash and jewellery worth Rs 11 lakh.The flats, located opposite each other, are on the 11th floor of Raj Empire Society. Neeta Sharma, the wife of Prashant Kumar, said Rs 2.7 lakh, kept for the registry of their flat, and jewellery worth around Rs 3 lakh had gone missing. According to the complainants, the burglary took place between 1pm and 2pm when the owners had gone out for work. The other flat, 1103, belongs to Kishor Kumar.Kumar said the robbers broke the locks on the front door and escaped with Rs 25,000 in cash and jewellery worth around Rs 4.5 lakh from cupboards.

According to the complainants, the burglary took place between 1pm and 2pm when the owners had gone out for work. Of the 400 flats, only 70-80 are currently occupied. The owners of both flats suspect some labourers working in the society of having carried out the thefts.Two separate FIRs have been lodged against unknown persons under IPC 380 (theft) and 454 (house breaking). SHO (Sihani Gate) Sanjay Kumar Pandey said CCTV footage from the society had been collected.Prashant Sharma, a cluster head with RBL Bank , lives with his wife and a child in flat number 1111 of H Block. The other flat, 1103, belongs to Kishor Kumar.Kumar said the robbers broke the locks on the front door and escaped with Rs 25,000 in cash and jewellery worth around Rs 4.5 lakh from cupboards.
