55-year-old dies in bike accident, nephew injured

GHAZIABAD: A 55-year-old man died while his nephew was seriously injured on Friday night after their motorcycle was hit by an unidentified vehicle in Muradnagar. Police said he was riding the motorbike and his nephew Shakeel Ahmad (43) was riding pillion. Later, they both fell down and one person died in the accident,” said Umesh Bhadur, SHO, Muradnagar police station.“They left Ghaziabad for their hometown around 7.30pm. “It seems that their bike was initially hit by some vehicle due to which the duo lost balance and the bike hit a road divider. Police said the duo were heading towards their home in Tikri village in Meerut when the accident took place around 8pm.The victim has been identified as Mohammad Iliyas Ahmad.

Police said he was riding the motorbike and his nephew Shakeel Ahmad (43) was riding pillion. “It seems that their bike was initially hit by some vehicle due to which the duo lost balance and the bike hit a road divider. Later, they both fell down and one person died in the accident,” said Umesh Bhadur, SHO, Muradnagar police station.“They left Ghaziabad for their hometown around 7.30pm. I received a call from Shakeel who said that he had suffered an injury on his leg as their motorcycle skidded near Muradnagar,” said Salman Ahmad, Iliyas’s cousin.“Though the victims were wearing helmets, they still received head injuries in the accident. Iliyas died on the spot due to severe head injuries,” added Salman.Police have booked the accused driver and are on a hunt to nab him.“On the basis of the complaint file by the deceased’s family, an FIR has been registered against the unknown driver under sections 304 A (causing death due to negligence) and 279 (rash driving) of the IPC,” said the SHO.
