GHAZIABAD: A senior skin consultant with MMG District Hospital was allegedly robbed of Rs 5.5 lakh and a laptop by one of his patients, whom he had called to paint his house. The doctor said the patient had been consulting him at the OPD for the past one month.During the course of treatment, Ajendra Kumar Dixit, the doctor, learnt that Govind painted houses for a living and asked him to paint his quarters. “After he told me about his profession I asked him to paint the government quarters located on the district hospital campus . The deal was fixed for Rs 12,000 and I gave him Rs 4,000 as advance,” he added.When Govind came to paint the house on Saturday, Dixit gave him the keys and left for Moradabad. “I told him I would return on Sunday. When I tried to call him from Moradabad the call went unanswered,” Dixit said.The doctor returned on Sunday evening, only to find the main door bolted from outside. “The cupboard in the bedroom was broken and Rs 5.5 lakh, which I had kept to buy a car, was missing. My laptop was also missing.” The doctor subsequently lodged an FIR under Section 380 (theft in dwelling unit) of the IPC at Kotwali police station.
