Demand for renaming metro stations on Dilshad Garden-New Bus Adda metro line gathers momentum

GHAZIABAD: While inauguration of Dilshad Garden-New Bus Adda is awaited, the Ghaziabad Development Authority(GDA) is flooded with requests from various organizations to change the names of metro stations.
There is a cemetery of British general and soldiers who died fighting which is close to present day New Bus Adda metro Adda.Meanwhile the 9.41 Km Dilshad Garden-New Bus Adda metro line will have eight stations in Ghaziabad namely Shaheed Nagar, Raj Bagh, Rajendra Nagar, Shyam Park, Mohan Nagar, Arthala, Hindon river and Ghaziabad New Bus Adda.
All along 9.41 KM about 400 pillars have been erected at a height between 10m to 12m from ground.
According to GDA vice chairperson Kanchan Verma the development authority has received about 20 such requests which have been sent to the state government for its consideration.These organizations have also placed the requests with Ghaziabad MP, Gen(retd) VK Singh also and per Sing’s office state government has given in principle approval for renaming two metro stations.
A fierce battle was fought on 30-31 May in 1857 between British Forces and local warriors and freedom fighters did not let British troops to cross Hindon River who were on way to Delhi from Meerut after mutiny broke out in 1857.
