Union cabinet approves Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut rapid rail corridor

and will be inter-operable ensuring that change of train is not required for moving from one RRTS corridor to another.Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS corridor is first of the three prioritized corridors planned for implementation in Phase-1. The Uttar Pradesh government recently allocated Rs 400 crore for Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut Regional Rapid Transit System The 82 Km Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS corridor from Sarai Kale Khan in Delhi till Modipuram in Meerut will have seven RRTS stations in Ghaziabad. The project is expected to be operational by 2024 with the daily ridership expected to be more than 8 lakh passengers. The other two are Delhi-Gurugram-Alwar and Delhi-Panipat Corridors. Once complete, high-speed trains with an average speed of 100km/hr will cover the 82km distance between Meerut and New Delhi via Ghaziabad in less than 55 minutes.RRTS stations will be seamlessly integrated with other transport modes like Airport, Railway, Metro, ISBTs etc.
