Surinder Koli gets death penalty in 1 more murder case

GHAZIABAD : A CBI court on Saturday awarded death sentence to Surinder Koli for the murder of a 14-year-old girl. Special CBI judge Amit Veer Singh, while announcing the death penalty , said the girl’s murder came under the rarest-of-rare category. “First of all I was not accused by victim’s family and no DNA test was carried out,” Koli said. According to the CBI, he had lured 19 women whom he raped and murdered, before dismembering their body parts and disposing the same in nearby drains.Meanwhile, Koli, who was waiting for the CBI verdict outside the court on Saturday, told TOI that there was no conclusive evidence to prove his involvement. So far, Koli has been convicted of rape and murder in 10 of 16 cases.Explaining the judgment, public prosecutor JP Sharma said, “Under Section 302 (murder), the court awarded death sentence and imposed a fine of Rs 50,000 on him; under Section 511 (read with 376), he has been sentenced to seven years of rigorous imprisonment and fined Rs 20,000 and under section (201) he has been sentenced to seven years of rigorous imprisonment and fined Rs 20,000.The CBI had taken over the probe into Nithari killings in 2007, and during the course of investigation found that Koli used to lure women and minor girls to Moninder Singh Pandher’s D-5 house in Sector 31 Noida.
