Car hits cycle in Ghaziabad, crushes rider and falls into canal, driver missing

After the accident, the driver of the car lost control and the car fell into Ganga canal . Himanshu’s friend Anshu Yadav told TOI that Himanhu had gone to Delhi to attend his cousin sister’s marriage on Tuesday. “Police found the driving license of a Himanshu Kumar of Meerut, whose family has confirmed he was the one driving the car,” Mishra said. “After the accident, the driver lost control and the car fell into a canal adjacent to the road. Police recovered the car from the canal by 8.30am, but the driver’s body is yet to be located.

GHAZIABAD: A 42-year-old man was crushed to death, after the cycle he was riding was hit by a Honda Civic car in Muradnagar area in Ghaziabad at around 7.30am on Wednesday. After the accident, the driver of the car lost control and the car fell into Ganga canal . Police recovered the car with registration number UP15AH0008, from the canal, but are yet to trace the body of the driver.According to police, the deceased, Vipin Kumar, a resident of Niwari village of Ghaziabad. He worked as helper in Krishna Sagar restaurant in Niwari, and has left behind two daughters and his wife.Circle officer K P Mishra told TOI Vipin was returning home from the restaurant after night duty . “The car crushed his head and he died on the spot,” he added. “After the accident, the driver lost control and the car fell into a canal adjacent to the road. Police recovered the car from the canal by 8.30am, but the driver’s body is yet to be located. When we brought the car out of the canal, the speedometer was showing 110kmph. We assume that at the time of the accident, it was being driven at around 130-140kmph,” Mishra added.From the car, police also received two identity cards and some kids’ clothes. “Police found the driving license of a Himanshu Kumar of Meerut, whose family has confirmed he was the one driving the car,” Mishra said. However, police said the car did not belong to him. He was driving his friend’s car. Himanshu’s friend Anshu Yadav told TOI that Himanhu had gone to Delhi to attend his cousin sister’s marriage on Tuesday. A 2016 BTech passout from a private college in Meerut, he was preparing for SSC and other competitive exams. “He didn’t know how to swim, so we’re very anxious,” Yadav said.“Himanshu told me last night that he will leave Delhi early in the morning for Meerut. He left his uncle’s house for Meerut around 6.40am, but sent wedding photos and updated his WhatsApp status with photos till 7.23am. I heard of the accident from police around 10am,” Anshu added.“Police have deployed four boats, including a motorboat , in the search operation, and called up the NDRF to trace the body,” Mishra said.
