Hundreds of people have been queuing up at an Indirapuram gurdwara since Thursday night after it opened an `oxygen langar` for people with acute respiratory distress.

Hundreds of people have been queuing up at an Indirapuram gurdwara since Thursday night after it opened an `oxygen langar` for people with acute respiratory distress in frantic search for hospital beds. And there is no need for an Aadhaar card or a Covid test result, reports Abhijay Jha.

At a time when hospitals are struggling to provide beds to people in distress because of the rising number of Covid cases, the langar has been giving them a breather before they find a hospital bed, according to gurdwara managers. More than 200 people had availed the service till 5pm on Friday.

The gurdwara had tied up with some others in west UP to get the oxygen cylinders, said president Gurpreet Singh. "Since we do not have infrastructure like beds, etc, we got people to take oxygen right in their vehicles and on benches placed near the road," Singh added.
