GHAZIABAD: A petrol pump employee was stalled and whisked by two bike borne assailants on gunpoint in order to loot him, but was left with a warning after nothing was found in the boot of his scooter near Shivam Hospital, in Sector 3 Kavinagar here on Tuesday. The victim, identified as Amit Singh (31), was driving from a petrol pump towards an HDFC bank branch to deposit a cheque handed over by the Paras Bansal , the petrol pump manager, when two bike borne, riding an Apache bike forcefully overtook him and asked him to stop. "He told us that due to this divine coincidence, Amit is alive today," added Singh.According to police officials, the miscreants belonged to a larger gang of assailants who have been operating in and around Ghaziabad for a few months and have been giving rise to such incidents. " They had covered their heads with helmets and their white Apache bike had no licence plate, just like the bikers from a different incident of loot from a few days ago," said a police official. However, an F.I.R under the relevant sections of IPC have been filed against the un-identified miscreants and the further investigation is on. "They had two countfry made pistols and they checked the boot of his scooter and after realising that there was just a cheque and not any money, they fled away after warning him of not calling the police and suggesting him of being grateful towards him of not shooting him," said Neeraj Singh, SHO, Kavinagar Police Station.Interestingly, according to Paras Bansal, the petrol pump manager, it was just toady that Amit had a cheque for depositing into a bank, as compared to the usual ritual of carrying money on his person.
