'A young man commits suicide by hanging himself in his sister's home'

As soon as I reached at the door of his room, I saw him hanging from the fan. "He was originally from Uttarakhand but was living with me and his sister for a few years. However, the body has been sent for postmortem and the autopsy report is awaited for further clarity. The light of his room was on and when I called out his name, there was no response. We reached back home by 11 on Sunday morning and the main door was open.

GHAZIABAD: A 22-year-old man committed suicide by hanging himself from the ceiling fan at his sister's house in Shivshakti Vihar, Lajpat Nagar, Sahibabad here on Sunday.The deceased, identified as Deepak Kumar Khera (22) was found hanging in his room with the help of a dupatta, with a chair kept right under his feet with a pillow on it by his brother-in-law Dilip Chauhan (36), around 11 am on Sunday morning.No suicide note has been recovered by the police from the incident spot so far.However, no cause or reason has been specified or indicated by the family or the police behind deceased's extreme step and further investigation is on.According to Chauhan, the victim was a brilliant student and was planning to apply to NIOS (National School for Open Learning) to obtain a B.Sc degree."He was originally from Uttarakhand but was living with me and his sister for a few years. He had no fights with anyone and was very close to me," added Chauhan.When asked about any academic stress or a history of depression, Dilip denied having any information about the same. "He had never shared anything of this sort with me ever," said Chauhan.Dilip Chauhan, who works in a local news channel was away to his sister's house in Karheda village along with his wife and two kids since Saturday and decided to stay there overnight as well. The victim was alone at home at the time of the incident. "My sister lives in Karheda village and on Saturday I went to her house along with my wife and kids like we frequently go and Deepak was accustomed to this. Unfortunately we decided to stay overnight as well," added Chauhan.According to police, the deceased's body was stiff when he was brought down, indicating towards a longer duration of death. "I think the man must have killed himself around 1 or 2 am at night only because his body was stiff which does not happen in a few hours," said Suresh Kumar , Sub-Inspector, Sahibabad Police Station.According to Chauhan, the deceased did not seem tensed to him or his wife before they left for his sister's house on Saturday and was completely normal. " We reached back home by 11 on Sunday morning and the main door was open. The light of his room was on and when I called out his name, there was no response. As soon as I reached at the door of his room, I saw him hanging from the fan. W are in shock and my wife is in no position to talk," said Dilip Chauhan, Deepak's brother-in-law.The police have confirmed no sign of break-in or forced entry inside the house and are currently terming it as a suicide itself. However, the body has been sent for postmortem and the autopsy report is awaited for further clarity.
