Ex-MLA booked for BJP worker’s murder

GHAZIABAD: Former BSP legislator from Sahibabad assembly constituency, Amarpal Sharma, has been booked along with two unidentified persons on Sunday for the murder of a BJP worker , Gajendra Bhati, in Khoda Colony. I don't know their names but I can identify them," Yogesh said in the complaint.According to Yogesh, Gajendra had been planning to contest the nagar palika polls in Khoda. Sharma was booked on the basis of a complaint lodged by Gajendra's younger brother Yogesh.

GHAZIABAD: Former BSP legislator from Sahibabad assembly constituency, Amarpal Sharma, has been booked along with two unidentified persons on Sunday for the murder of a BJP worker , Gajendra Bhati, in Khoda Colony. Gajendra alias 'Gajju' (32) was shot dead in Indira Vihar area of Khoda by two bikers on Saturday while his colleague, Balbir Chauhan (52), who also sustained gunshot injuries, is recuperating in a Noida hospital. Sharma was booked on the basis of a complaint lodged by Gajendra's younger brother Yogesh. Police have invoked sections 120B (criminal conspiracy), 302 (murder) and 307 (attempt to murder) of IPC against Sharma and two others in an FIR filed at Khoda police station.Sharma had won the Sahibabad seat on a BSP ticket in the 2012 assembly polls. He held a press conference on Sunday and claimed that he was framed by his political rivals to keep him out of the picture in the forthcoming urban local body elections in the state. The murder occurred barely two days after chief minister Yogi Adityanath announced a package of Rs 12 crore for Khoda during a meeting in Ghaziabad. In his complaint, Yogesh said he was following Gajendra and Balbir, who were on a motorcycle, in an SUV on Saturday afternoon. Gajendra's wife, Reena, was also in the SUV with Yogesh. "The two men seemed to be waiting for Gajendra. They began raining bullets on Gajendra and Balbir as soon as their motorcycle was around 10-15 metres inside Khoda. I had seen the two men near our house a couple of days ago. I don't know their names but I can identify them," Yogesh said in the complaint.According to Yogesh, Gajendra had been planning to contest the nagar palika polls in Khoda. "Gajendra seemed to be vexed for the past four days. He said Amarpal Sharma had been pressurising him not to contest the municipal polls in Khoda and expressed his fears that Sharma might eliminate him," he added in his complaint. The police have recovered CCTV footage from the area which shows two men fleeing on a bike after the shooting. Police said investigations are being conducted to find out whether the murder was a fallout of political, financial or criminal rivalry.Sharma demanded on Sunday an impartial inquiry be conducted in the case.
