Thousands come together for the grand Eid celebrations in Porvorim

The Masjid-e–Hamza mosque saw over a thousand worshippers offer namaz. Goa celebrated Eid in a grand way on Saturday. After breaking their 40-day Ramzan fast at the sight of the crescent-shaped moon on Friday night, they were looking forward to a day of celebration and feasting.“We started the day by eating something sweet in the morning,” said Shammi Sayyed, adding that the festival was also synonymous with biryani and sheer khurma.“It’s not just Muslims who look forward to this day eagerly, but their friends and neighbours too, because of all the mouthwatering kebab and biryani they get to eat,” added Rizwan, from Panaji
