PONDA: The government primary school at Deulwada Marcel in Ponda taluka has finally got an additional classroom after a wait for 13 long years.The school has 132 students on its roll and the two rooms of the school were inadequate as two classes were conducted in each room, affecting the concentration of the students.Hailed for getting his demand finally completed after a long delay, local legislator and minister for art and culture Govind Gaude said the work has been completed in a record time of 82 days.The minister had laid the foundation stone for the school room on March 27.“We had been demanding for the classroom since 2005, and it has materialised now because I have been elevated as a minister of the state,” the minister said, adding that the construction work has cost Rs 12.5 lakh, including interiors and furnishing.The earlier two-classroom school had a strength of 105 students and two divisions, that is class I & II in one room and class III & IV was being conducted in another room.“The students were finding it difficult to concentrate on classroom studies.
