Central government official gets three years jail

On the instruction of a CBI officer, a trap was laid and the accused was caught red-handed. The complainant, a manager at a private company in Sakhali, had approached the CBI and complained that Thakur was demanding a bribe as he refused to provide a vehicle for his guests. He was arrested under the Prevention of Corruption Act. PANAJI: A special court on Monday sentenced central excise inspector Nilesh Thakur, to three years in prison for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 2,700, a senior officer of the CBI said.The CBI had arrested Thakur in May 2013 while he was accepting the bribe.
