IMD, Panaji, has forecast dry weather over the next 24 hours. The minimum temperature recorded on Tuesday was 26.5C , 2.5 degrees above normal, which is appreciably above normal. The maximum temperature recorded on Tuesday was 29.8C which is within the normal range. PANAJI: Three systems of cyclonic circulation are prevailing not far from the Goa region, but the India meteorological department (IMD) officials said they are not directly affecting the state’s weather.“There is only some moisture incursion,” M L Sahu, director, IMD-Panaji, said. The moisture incursion has triggered cloud formation and the sky was overcast since early morning and persisted throughout Tuesday.A cyclonic circulation over coastal Karnataka and the adjoining Arabian Sea between 3.1km and 4.5km above the mean sea level is slowly becoming less marked. The withdrawal of the southwest monsoon is likely to be delayed further, as the withdrawal line continues to pass over Vengurla in Maharashtra and the adjoining region.By evening, some parts of the state received light to moderate rainfall. The 24-hour period till Monday morning was dry, but Canacona was the only centre that received 10.4mm rainfall during the same period till Tuesday.“This is due to a local phenomenon caused by heating (not cyclonic circulation),” Sahu said.
