The scheme was launched in September, but is yet to go live in Goa in terms of patients actually gaining health insurance.“The Herculean task of identifying and registering potential beneficiaries is underway. However, we suspect some potential beneficiaries may have moved out of the state,” said Dr Utkarsh Betodkar, who has been handling the central government scheme.“Panchayats and municipal bodies have been provided with lists containing names of beneficiaries. Also, people can contact DDSSY kendras in their respective area for registration. They can also visit go online and visit https://mera.pmjay.gov.in/search/login to check if their name figures on the list and register for the scheme,” he added.Meanwhile, according to sources, the state government’s health insurance scheme — the Deen Dayal Swasthya Seva Yojana (DDSSY) — has found more popularity than the central one. It offers an annual insurance of Rs 2.5 lakh for a family of three, Rs 4 lakh for larger families, and includes 447 medical interventions. The central scheme, on the other hand, provides urban or rural poor with a insurance cover of upto Rs 5 lakh per family for secondary and tertiary care hospitalisation and includes over 1,000 medical interventions.“But, the biggest benefit under Ayushman Bharat Yojana,” Betodkar said, “is the mobility it offers.” This means a person registered in Goa will able to avail the scheme’s benefit at an empanelled hospital anywhere in the country.“The process of empanelling hospitals is currently underway in the state. Goa Medical College (GMC) has been already been empanelled, but private hospitals are yet to come on board,” Betodkar added.
