Francisrsquos son Joshua gets backing from GFP chief

Panaji: Goa Forward Party (GFP) president Vijai Sardesai on Friday said he was willing to back former deputy chief minister Francis D’Souza’s son, Joshua, if the latter chose to contest the byelections from Mapusa. Joshua is presently a member of the Mapusa Municipal Council.“Francis was a man who believed in simple living and he won the hearts of the people. I was willing to back his son. I am still willing,” he added. His legacy should be preserved.

His son should take it forward,” Sardesai said after paying homage to the Mapusa MLA at his residence.Sardesai was accompanied by GFP vice-president Atanasio Monserrate, treasurer Suraj Lotlikar, spokesperson Durgadas Kamat, joint secretary Santosh Kumar Sawant and Goa Youth Forward chief Raj Malik.“In the past, I had discussed with Francis many political developments in Goa and also in his constituency. I was willing to back his son. I am still willing,” he added.
