7-day Goa mourning declared from March 18 to 24

PANAJI: Seven days of state mourning, from March 18 to 24, has been announced as a mark of respect to Goa chief minister Manohar Parrikar , who passed away on Sunday. As a mark of respect to the departed dignitary, seven days state mourning will be observed throughout the state from March 18 to 24, both days inclusive," a circular from the general administration department said. "Government of Goa expresses profound sorrow on the sad demise of Manohar Parrikar, honourable chief minister of the state of Goa, March 17, 2019. Offices of the Archbishop's House at Altinho, Panaji, will be closed on Monday.Public sector banks will also remain shut for the day. During the period of state mourning, the National Flag will fly at half mast on all the buildings across Goa where it is regularly flown.As there will be no "official entertainment", Shigmo parades that coincide with the mourning period will be cancelled, as well as the programmes at Azad Maidan, Panaji .
