Two Karnataka men convicted for killing brother in Bethora

Arguments in the matter were completed on March 22 and the matter was kept for judgement on Saturday, Raut Desai said. The quarrel escalated, during which time Taru caught hold of Thawru and Hiru slit his neck with the knife.After investigating the matter, Ponda PI Prabodh Shirwaikar had filed the chargesheet on February 13, 2012. The court examined 23 witnesses produced by the prosecution in the case. He was well settled in the construction business and his brothers Hiru and Taru were jealous of his success in Goa and often demanded money from him.On the fateful evening, the accused approached Thawru’s house with a knife and began quarrelling with him over money.

PONDA: The additional district and sessions court at Ponda on Saturday convicted two brothers for killing their sibling for denying them money in 2011 at Ashewada-Bethora village in Ponda taluka.The court will pronounce the sentence on April 2.The accused duo, Hiru and Taru Chawhan, had killed their brother Thawru Valu Chawhan, 45, at his house at Ashewada, Bethora, on the evening of November 11, 2011, by slitting his throat with a sharp knife, after Thavru denied giving the accused money.After hearing the matter, the additional district judge sitting at Ponda, Bela Naik, convicted the accused under Section 302, read with Section 34 of the Indian Penal Code .
