MAPUSA: Garbage from a motor racing event at Paliem – Arambol – Keri plateau has irked local people.
Due to the access to the plateau, which offers scenic views, more people will litter the area and changes to the natural topography will have serious impact on the natural balance of the site,” said a local resident.
In the process they have disturbed many natural drains.
The wet waste was rotting, but the bigger worry was the plastic waste as it was getting scattered across the plateau and ending up in the cashew plantations due to winds.“The organisers cleared the garbage from the main event area, but since Thursday morning winds have scattered the plastic waste across the plateau and it has started entering the cashew plantations,” said local farmer Shantaram Naik “The organisers made an access road to the plateau and changed the course of the topography of the site for making the racing track.
