Panaji: Congress, in a communication with the Election Commission of India, urged it to issue urgent directions to stop payment of any compensation during the ongoing code of conduct to former Congress MLA Subhash Shirodkar.“The ruling BJP government is seeking to release compensation to former MLA Subhash Shirodkar who is now contesting from Shiroda constituency.
Your attention is invited to the fact that the said amount if released during the election code of conduct by the BJP government to Subhsh Shirodkar will violate the model code of conduct,” spokesperson Bras de Sa stated. They have also brought to the notice of the commission that there is a complaint filed before the Goa Lokayukta on March 21 who has issued a notice to the chief secretary seeking a report while directing that the entire records of land acquisition be placed before it.
