Tanzanian arrested for overstaying

Calangute: A Tanzanian woman, Burbank Hamidu, 29, was arrested by Calangute police on Saturday after she was found staying in the country without any valid travel documents during routine police patrolling at Baga.She is the ninth woman from Africa to be arrested over the last 10 days by Calangute police who have launched a drive against foreign women staying in the country without any valid travel documents.Earlier on Wednesday, four women from Uganda, Ghana and Kenya had been arrested, while four more were arrested before that.All the women have been booked under Sections 3 (2) (a) and 6 (a) of Passport Entry into India rules, Section 7 (3) (iii) of Foreigners Order Act 1946 read with Section 14 of the Foreigners Act, 1948.Further investigations are on.
