European Union film fest to kick off at ESG on July 1

The courses will comprise workshops on direction, film appreciation, screenplay writing and acting, said Entertainment Society of Goa (ESG) vice-chairman Rajendra Talak on Tuesday.He was speaking on the sidelines of the announcement of the European Union Film Festival in Goa. Panaji: As a prelude to the International Film Festival of India (Iffi) this year, a film course will be held in Goa by experts from the industry. "ESG is constantly developing relations with reputed filmmakers through Iffi and this rapport has helped us in organizing good courses. The courses will be held in October," he said.To promote cultural ties between India and EU nations through the medium of films, the European Union Film Festival is being held from July 1 onwards at ESG.With a selection of some of the finest films coming out of Europe today, Talak said that the ESG is "bringing the best of award-winning European cinema to film lovers in Goa".Now in its 22nd edition, the festival will feature award-winning European films with perennial themes like the redemption of love, resilience of youth, and triumph of the human spirit in adversity including genres ranging from comedy to gripping family drama, romance and adventure.Organized by the delegation of the European Union, directorate of film festivals, ESG, ministry of information and broadcasting, government of India in Goa, the festival will be inaugurated by Cesare Onestini, Charge d'Affaires, Delegation of European Union to India.
