Panaji: The Foreigners Regional Registration Officer (FRRO) has decided to take action against hotel owners and others who provide accommodation to foreigners without registering their details online, within 24 hours of the guest's arrival in their premises.Under the Foreigners Order 1948, it is obligatory on the part of hotel owners, guest houses, individual houses, service apartments or any other facility providing accommodation to foreigners, to transit the Form C to the FRRO. "The defaulters will be prosecuted under order 16 of the Foreigners Order, 1948, read with Section 14 of the Foreigners Act 1946," FRRO superintendent of police Bosco George said.Recently, a new feature in the Form C module has been introduced in the system for individual house category, which provides a one-time password (OTP) based activation of Form C login details for users, who belong to the individual house category.In such cases, after filing up the registration form, an OTP will be sent automatically by the system to the mobile number of the user which is provided in the registration form.The OTP has to be entered in a slot on the user activation page along with the user ID to receive login details.
