Govt may decide on new casino today

Recently, captain of ports officials conducted the inspection of M V Lucky and the file was moved to the chief minister for government approval on whether to allow the vessel in River Mandovi. During the last hearing, advocate general Dattaprasad Lawande stated that necessary clearance will be issued to the petitioner within 24 hours if the captain of ports officials are satisfied that the engine of the vessel is in working condition and the company has sufficient tugs with appropriate power in case of any emergency. Panaji: The state government on Tuesday sought a day's time from the high court of Bombay at Goa to take a decision whether to allow the casino vessel belonging to Golden Globe Hotels Private Limited (GGHPL), a subsidiary of former Haryana minister Gopal Kanda's MDLR group, in River Mandovi.Captain of ports James Braganza, speaking to TOI, said that when the matter came up for hearing on Tuesday, the state government informed the court that the file has been sent to the government seeking approval to permit the vessel in the river.GGPL has approached the high court seeking direction to the captain of ports to permit the casino vessel to be brought to the Panaji port area as a refuge vessel.
