GSIDC takes charge of repair work at Hospicio

While the third floor is fully vacated, only the dialysis department still functions on the second floor. Margao: Following the instructions issued by health minister Vishwajeet Rane, the Goa State Infrastructure Development Corporation (GSIDC) moved swiftly to take over the repair and maintenance work of Hospicio hospital, Margao. Rane visited the hospital on Sunday to take stock of the situation.Speaking to reporters during his visit on Sunday, Rane had said that upon receipt of the collector's order, the dialysis unit facility located on the "unsafe" second floor of the hospital's annexe building will be shifted.PWD has already declared the second and third floors of the hospital's annexe building as 'unsafe'. On Tuesday, the dilapidated structure was covered by a protective netting and the actual repair work of the hospital would begin soon, it was informed.Sources said that GSIDC will assess the structure with regards to the extent of the damage, type of repairs to be undertaken, and measures to be taken to strengthen the structure.A cast iron railing on the second floor of the hospital's annexe building gave way last week landing on a woman who suffered injuries to her head.
