PANAJI: Bharatiya Janata Party BJP ) has ruled out the demand by the Church for an impartial probe into the case of desecration of religious structures.Speaking to mediapersons, BJP spokesperson and Curchorem MLA Nilesh Cabral said that "no one should cast doubts" over the arrest of Francis Pereira from Curchorem, in connection with the desecration cases. "You cannot ask for an impartial inquiry as the person has been caught. He has admitted that he has done it. What kind of impartial probe is required?" he said."Some people say how a 55-year-old person can climb the compound wall and break the cross, but, yesterday, he showed the police how he climbed the wall and damaged the cross," Cabral added.The five-member fact finding team comprising members of the archdiocese of Goa and Daman 's council for social justice and peace and the centre for study of society and secularism have requested for a judicial commission to investigate into the desecrations to ensure transparency and have stated that Pereira's arrest was made to pacify the public."The impression created by some church group which has said that investigation should have been done in detail... I will also ask the police to investigate all angles. Police have toiled hard (to solve the case)," Cabral said, further alleging that Pereira was capable of doing the desecrations.
