An offence has been registered under Sections 307 (attempt to murder) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). Chavan is currently undergoing treatment for neck injuries at Goa medical college (GMC) and hospital, Bambolim.Mardi has been remanded to two days police custody. Further investigation is in progress along with PSI Girish Padloskar. Police is trying to find motive of the crime. Calangute: Calangute police on Wednesday arrested a resident of Candolim, Mantesh alias Ramesh Mardi in connection with an attempt to murder case registered late Tuesday evening.Police received information that Anil Chavan, also a resident of Candolim, was severely attacked near the football ground at Candolim.Acting swiftly, police arrested Mardi, and also recovered the weapon of assault, a barber's razor blade which was in the possession of the accused, PI Jivba Dalvi said.Mardi was under the influence of alcohol at the time of arrest.
