School to be shifted for new hospital building

GURUGRAM: The government boys school adjoining General Hospital in Civil Lines will be shifted at the beginning of the next session. The letter states that the health department would be requiring the land adjoining the General Hospital in Civil Lines for the construction of new hospital building. The 200 bed hospital building has been deemed unfit since 2015. After the operations will be shifted there, the existing hospital building will be demolished.

GURUGRAM: The government boys school adjoining General Hospital in Civil Lines will be shifted at the beginning of the next session. The chief medical officer has written to the education department asking them to vacate the premises. As a result, around 1,000 students will be shifted to another school. This is being done to provide area for the construction of a government hospital at the school land.On Wednesday, chief medical officer (CMO), Gurugram wrote to district education department. The letter states that the health department would be requiring the land adjoining the General Hospital in Civil Lines for the construction of new hospital building. Therefore, government boys senior secondary school , which is being run in the existing building needs to be shifted elsewhere.Around 1,000 students are enrolled in the school at present. Out of these, classes one to eight will be shifted to government boys school in sector 14. While, classes nine to twelve will be run from SCERT’s building on Railway Road.The shifting will be done in the next session, to make way for the construction of new hospital building, said Dr BK Rajora , chief medical officer, GurugramThe health department intends to construct a multi-speciality wing at the General Hospital in Civil Lines, along with a medical college. In the next financial year, the school will be demolished. In its 4.4 acres of land, a new 100 bed hospital will be constructed with residential quarters for doctors. After the operations will be shifted there, the existing hospital building will be demolished. Then a 200 bed hospital building will be constructed in its 5.6 acres of land.The current hospital building was constructed in 1955. It was renovated between 2007 and 2010, but the quality of the construction work was inferior. The 200 bed hospital building has been deemed unfit since 2015.
