GURUGRAM: Paras Hospital, already under the scanner for alleged building plan violations, now faces more trouble. An MCG survey has revealed the hospital in Sushant Lok 1, Sector 43, may have been paying property taxes for an area much less than what it is supposed to pay for. The corporation said it is about to issue a notice.According to MCG officials, the hospital management did not provide detailed information on all floors of its building and the use of the space which is why the corporation has not been able to assess the actual property tax to be levied on the hospital building.“We have taken cognisance of the matter after media reported of violations in their building plan. Our team has visited the spot for a survey and we have identified some anomalies. The hospital has been asked to provide information on the space in each floor,” said an MCG official.Sources in MCG said the hospital is currently paying property taxes for 4,140 sq ft, at Rs 15 per sq ft. But this area could be just 10% of the total taxable area. “According to our survey, the hospital is currently paying property taxes for only 10% of its actual area,” said the official. Effectively, the hospital could be paying around Rs 6.14 lakh less in property taxes per year, though, to its credit, MCG records show the hospital has already paid property tax for the coming period in advance.A Paras spokesperson when approached for a comment said that they haven’t yet received the notice and hence would not be able to comment on the same.TOI had earlier reported that Paras Hospital is being probed by DTCP for allegedly violating approved building plan, having turned its common areas and parking lots into offices, medical rooms, cafeteria, patients’ lounge, pharmacy and even a toy shop. Paras has denied the violations.
